Every field explained

What each returned field means in plain words.

Every lookup to https://api.ipatlas.dev/v1/{ip} returns one flat JSON object with the same fields on every plan.

Frequently asked questions

How accurate is an IP address lookup?

Country and network provider (ASN) are very reliable. City and coordinates are approximate because internet providers assign IP blocks across a wider region, especially on mobile connections.

Does this tool support both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses?

Yes. Enter any public IPv4 address (like 8.8.8.8) or IPv6 address (like 2001:4860:4860::8888) in the lookup box or pass it to /v1/{ip}.

Are the IP addresses I look up logged?

No. ipatlas never stores or logs the IP addresses you look up, whether you use this page or call the API from your application. Our servers run in the EU (Germany).

Can I call this lookup from my own website or backend?

Yes. Fetch https://api.ipatlas.dev/v1/8.8.8.8 from your backend or /v1/me from the browser. You can try up to 1,000 lookups a day without a key, or sign up above for 50,000 free lookups a month.
